For those of you wanting to begin running this spring for the first time, it can be very confusing these days trying to decide what type of running shoes would be best for you.  A study published last year in the British Journal of Sports Medicine suggests a basic neutral running shoe will probably work just fine. 900 inactive adults who began running were monitored for 1 year.  1/3 of these runners had at least one foot that pronated—rolled inward when running—or supinated—rolled outward.  After more than 310 miles each in basic running shoes that did not correct for pronation or supination, 3/4 of all the runners were still injury-free!   So just lace up those neutral shoes and hit the trails with a clear mind.
